History is an important focus for the Swedish instructors and for the weekend. As part of the event, there will be special panels included in the weekend package on Friday and Saturday.

**There will also be an exciting optional panel for those who are in New York early on Thursday, May 23rd. We can’t provide details yet but it will be at an exciting location. If you’re free on Thursday, definitely mark your calendars to join us!

Tour of Woodlawn Cemetery

On Friday, May 24th, there will be an optional tour of the historic Woodlawn Cemetery, which will include a walk around “jazz corner” and a visit to Frankie Manning’s grave. This is being hosted by the cemetery and there is a separate ticket. There are some special activities planned and we hope you can join us!

  • Woodlawn Cemetery Tour
    • 11am-12:30pm
    • Special tour of Woodlawn Cemetery starting at Jazz Corner and ending at Frankie Manning’s grave for a small pre-birthday celebration. Woodlawn Cemetery is the final resting place for many famous artists. Frankie Manning is very much at home with nearby graves of the likes of Duke Ellington, Illinois Jacquet, Miles Davis, Celia Cruz, and Lionel Hampton (whose stone, appropriately, bears the inscription, “Flying home.”) More details coming soon.
